[ORIGINAL STORY] Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines 2 may be about to get its long anticipated re-reveal at PAX West 2023, as hinted by the tease posted on the official Twitter account two days ago.

Join the vamily at PAX West in Seattle either in person or online for many surprises and reveals and a big comeback of Seattle by Night live on stage!

While the tweet doesn't outright confirm the presence of Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines 2, the Community Manager replied to that very inquiry made in the Discord channel with an 'eyes' emoticon, practically confirming it. After all, Paradox did say in the last official update that the game would get its re-reveal in September. The good news is that PAX West 2023 is scheduled at the very beginning of the month (September 1-4), so there's less than two weeks to wait now.

PAX West is also probably the perfect venue. The original story of Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines 2 outlined by Hardsuit Labs was set in Seattle, after all, and it's likely that the setting will remain there.

The sequel to Troika's cult classic first-person roleplaying game had a troubled development phase, to say the least. Bloodlines 2 was announced in March 2019 following an elaborate ARG that asked users to sign up for a so-called 'Tender' dating app that purported to match people based on their blood types.

The announcement immediately generated excitement surrounding the sequel, especially since Brian Mitsoda would return from the original game to write the story. The target release date was Q1 2020, but the developers delayed it first to late 2020 and then to 2021.

That was merely the beginning of the game's woes. Shortly after the announcement of a delay into 2021, the project lost Brian Mitsoda and Creative Director Ka'ai Cluney. A few months later, publisher (and owner of the World of Darkness IP) Paradox Interactive put Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines 2 on indefinite hold after opting to replace developer Hardsuit Labs.

At that point, the game was at high risk of being canceled, as Paradox CEO Fredrik Wester would later admit in late 2021. Thankfully, another studio sold Paradox on a new pitch, and development resumed.

Nearly two years later, it appears the new version of Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines 2 is about to go public. It'll be interesting to see how much of the vision originally conceived by Hardsuit Labs has been kept by the new studio. Either way, here's hoping for another great RPG to continue the incredible streak the genre has been producing.
