Vivo APEX Will Reportedly Be Called NEX

Vivo will finally launch the retail version of the APEX Concept Phone on June 12. The name is going to be slightly changed this time, as the device is not going to be called APEX. The phone will be launched as Vivo NEX and it is expected to tout a magnificent screen-to-body ratio of nearly 100 percent, making it possibly the first device to ship without a chin or notch.

As most of you know, the selfie camera will be concealed in the top bezel and appear as a periscope when the camera app is opened. However, achieving this design might not have been cheap for the manufacturer, which is why you should expect the pricing to be more than what the $999 priced iPhone X costs.

Vivo NEX Could Have a Retail Price of $1,100 - Cheaper Model to Cost $780

According to a placard seen at a retail store in China through Weibo, the phone will be fueled by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 845 SoC. Unfortunately, it will cost quite a lot; around $1,100. The placard also mentions that there will also be a cheaper version of the NEX that will not have the high-tech camera setup along with other specification differences. It will be powered by the Snapdragon 710 SoC and it will retail for $780, according to currency conversions.

However, take this news with a grain of salt as this is just a picture of a handwritten board on a Chinese social networking website, so it is not the most reliable of sources and actual prices may vary. Vivo already seems to be in the launch mode as the company has started distributing promotional posters in shopping malls across China. The new phone will allegedly have breakthrough technologies. The highest spec’d out model will also come with 8GB of RAM and the in-screen fingerprint sensor.

If the phone resembles the APEX Concept Phone showcased at Barcelona, the phone will sport a 5.99-inch OLED screen with COF technology. The in-screen fingerprint reader will probably be integrated into both variants of the Vivo NEX. Do you think the cost of the Snapdragon 845-powered variant is a bit too much? Tell us down in the comments.
