Waterproofing Components Surface For The Galaxy S7 And Galaxy S7 Edge Today

Given that the Samsung Galaxy S7 and the Galaxy S7 Edge are due in two weeks time, we now have a fair idea of what to expect this month from the Korean manufacturer. After yesterday's image leaks we now get to see some information surface about the device's alleged water-proofing with several interesting components having surfaced on the India import/export database, Zauba.

The Samsung Galaxy S7 And Galaxy S7 Edge Might Be Waterproof As Well

When it comes to waterproofing, we have yet to see the feature achieve mass market popularity. We've been hearing several bits of rumors suggesting that the iPhone 7 from the Apple side of things will be waterproof. Today, Zauba listings for components that could be meant for the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge based on earlier information suggest that the devices might come with the feature on board.

The listing, whcih can be seen in the image above shows several components directed for the SM-G930 and the SM-G935 which have surfaced as codenames for the Galaxy S7 and the Galaxy S7 Edge in the past. The first of these is a conductive gasket tape (generally used for grounding), Void Seals and more importantly, a waterproofing tape.

As the race to introduce new and differentiated gadgets to the market increases, manufacturers often find themselves in tricky positions. Should the Galaxy S7 and the Galaxy S7 Edge turn out be waterproof without affecting design or other features, we'd be eager to see the response of other manufacturers out there too. Rumors nevertheless stay rumors as we've been seeing similar claims surface for as  as long as the Galaxy S5.

Aside from waterproofing components, we also get to take a look at other components for the SM-G930 and the SM-G935, which include antenna's, PCBs and a testing sample as well. Samsung should be done with the Galaxy S7 and the Galaxy S7 Edge by now so we'd be interested to see the nature of the sample that's making rounds at Zauba.

Things have been quite open once again for this year's flagship smartphone launches form the Korean manufacturer with almost every critical feature on the upcoming devices having surfaced in one form of speculation or rumor. Both the devices are expected to feature little design changes, come with the Snapdragon 820 and the Exynos 8890 on board, tout rear cameras with 12MP resolution 4GB of RAM.

That being said, the critical success of the Galaxy S7 and the Galaxy S7 Edge will lie once again in sustained market performance. 2015's launches of the Samsung Galaxy S6/S6 Edge saw positive attention all around at time of launch, but things went a bit astray later on. Will Samsung be able to change things this year? We'll find out soon enough. Till then, stay tuned and let us know what you think in the comments section below.
