Apple’s Phil Schiller Has a Stance on Facial Recognition in Other Smartphones: They ‘All Stink’

Apple’s Phil Schiller sat down with Dutch website and spoke about the security of the iPhone X, which is Face ID. Comparing it to other competing smartphones and their facial recognition security, the executive says that they ‘all stink’ in comparison.

While we would have to state that his position at Apple would mean that he would form a biased opinion about the iPhone X, you should be reminded that the Galaxy Note 8, Galaxy S8+ and Galaxy S8 suffer from a serious security flaw.

Phil Schiller Calls Face ID on the iPhone X ‘a Very Unique Implementation’

Sitting down with Bright, Phil Schiller had a lot of say about the way Face ID worked in the latest and greatest iPhone.

"Ultimately what we are doing there is making privacy security even easier to do so that we all want to do it.”

After being questioned about competing smartphones’ facial recognition, he stated that they ‘all stink’. Truth be told, lots of Apple’s Android-running competitors have been reported to incorporate 3D sensing solutions that we will probably be seeing in 2018. Needless to say, Apple’s rivals are feeling the heat of the iPhone X to a certain degree and will stop at nothing to ensure that they do not get left behind in the race.

“They don’t work in all the ways we need Face ID to work. We're very aware that through the years the simple thing, this Home button, that started as the way you click to get to the Home screen, grew into doing so many things for us. We added Touch ID, it took you to the multitasking screen, paged Siri, activated Apple Pay. All through this one mechanical button.

So for Face ID we needed the best way we know of to enable us to easily unlock our device with our face, in a protected way with the Secure Enclave, and support all these other things. We had to solve all of that. Other things that people have tried with face haven’t been anything like that. Face ID is a very unique implementation.”

Do you guys still think that Face ID is unrivaled when comparing facial recognition to other mobile phones? Tell us your thoughts down in the comments.
