Snapdragon X CPUs Receive Adoption From Major Laptop Makers Amid The AI PC Hype, Dell & Lenovo Designs Revealed

The AI PC era has taken every part of the tech industry by storm, with the influx of AI-oriented features targeted toward improving consumer experiences. At CES 2024, we did get a showcase of what to expect with the upcoming AI laptops, and it seems like all major companies will be hopping on board the Snapdragon X CPU bandwagon. WindowsReport has disclosed that Dell soon plans on releasing their Inspiron 14 7441 Plus and the XPS 13 934 laptops, which are expected to feature up to the Snapdragon X Elite X1E80100 CPU, one of the fastest SKUs to launch soon. The chip features a 12-core count with a maximum frequency of 3.42 GHz.

The Dell Inspiron 14 7441 Plus laptop is expected to come with the new Windows 11 Preview Build, which will receive an "AI revamp", including a dedicated explorer and much more. Interestingly, the laptop will be released with 16 GB LPDDR5X memory as the base config, adhering to Microsoft's previously disclosed guidelines for the AI PC platforms.

The Dell Inspiron series has witnessed a more "slim look" with the newest iteration and comes with rounded edges for best portability. The laptop will also feature a dedicated Copilot key, which will be interesting to see, as it is indeed the first to feature it.

Apart from the Inspiron 14 7441, Dell also plans to release the new XPS 13 9345 laptop, which will be the top-notch professional laptop from the firm. It isn't confirmed whether the laptop will feature a Snapdragon X Elite SoC or an Intel Core Ultra CPU, but both of them will elevate the XPS platform to new heights either way.

Joining the party with Dell is none other than Lenovo, as a new leak has disclosed that Lenovo's upcoming IdeaPad Slim 5 will feature the Snapdragon Plus CPUs. The initial images by @_h0x0d_ show that the IdeaPad Slim 5 will indeed debut in two different hues, although we are unaware of the device's specifications, so commenting on it won't be a wise move here. Lenovo also has the ThinkPad T14S and the Yoga Slim 7 14 "Snapdragon" Edition planned for launch in the coming weeks.

These laptop leaks show us that Qualcomm's Snapdragon X Elite CPUs are expected to receive good market adoption. Despite being a new release, they have managed to take the spotlight from the likes of Intel and AMD, forcing them to frame their naming schemes around the "AI" keyword. Following are the full list of Snapdragon X laptops that have been revealed (unofficially) so far:

  • HP Dragon Snapdragon Edition Business
  • Lenovo Yoga Slim 7 14 Snapdragon Edition
  • Lenovo ThinkPad T14S "Snapdragon Edition"
  • Lenovo IdeaPad Slim 5 "Snapdragon Edition"
  • ASUS Vivobook S 15 OLED S5507
  • Microsoft Surface Pro 10 Laptop
  • Microsoft Surface Laptop 6
  • Samsung Galaxy Book4 Edge
  • Dell Inspiron 14 Plus 7441
  • Dell XPS 13 9345 "Snapdragon Edition"

It will be interesting to see what type of performance Qualcomm brings onboard, and by the looks of it, competitors will have a hard time sustaining in markets.
