Samsung initiated the rollout of Tizen 3.0 Value Pack update for the Gear S3 classic and Gear S3 Frontier last week. After the update, several users started reporting that the battery life on their smart wearable has begun deteriorating significantly. According to a report by SamMobile, users have been facing issues with the battery output on the Gear S3 classic and Gear S3 Frontier.

Factory reset is a temporary fix

For now, it is not clear what is causing the issue and also why it is not popping up for all the users. After the update, many users did complain about the reduced battery life, but not all users are facing it. At the moment, Gear S3 Classic or Gear S3 Frontier users are being advised to perform a factory reset on the device. The factory reset will also fix the bug that has been preventing users from using customized watchfaces alongside the latest battery life issue. Many users complained about the inability to use watchfaces after updating to Tizen 3.0.

Some users took to Reddit for reporting the issue, one user named Citizen02 wrote that the battery life on his Gear smartwatch went from 2-3 days to about 8 hours after updating to Tizen 3.0. Another user with the name shanghai-nobody posted that his watch loses 50 percent of its battery life in just a day. “If I go for a run with GPS and Bluetooth headphones I can easily lose 50 percent in 30 minutes, which never happened in the past,” he noted.

Following the complaints from several users, Samsung must have started working on an update to fix the issue. The company will be required to roll out a full-fledged maintenance update for patching it. However, there is no information regarding the timeline for the release of the next update. Samsung is yet to acknowledge the issue so we will be updating this article once Samsung releases a statement for it.
