After the release of Android Oreo, many smartphone users especially the ones with flagships, have been expecting the update to appear on their smartphone.
Of course, several OEMs like OnePlus, Samsung, Sony, Essential, and others have been working on bringing the update to compatible devices. It's easier for flagships, but for mid-range phones, users are often denied a major update even if their phone is hardly two years old. Not to forget about the 2-year update promise, but many instances in the past have proven to be deceiving for mid-range phone owners.
However, there are still some manufacturers like ZTE who are inclined towards completing the 2-year update promise. Apparently, the discontinued ZTE Axon 7 that was launched in 2016, is set to get the Oreo update. The company is currently working on rolling out the Oreo update for the Axon 7.
Here's what one ZTE employee wrote on the company's forum:
We are announcing now that we are already developing android 8 for the Axon 7, your positive feedback has been inspiring us a lot and made us very happy and because of this we try to get it customer ready as soon as possible for the best customers in the world, and I ask for your understanding because we still need some time to perfect it.
For now, the company has not revealed a timeline for the update release, but we are glad to see that the company is delivering on its promise.
