Thymesia can be punishing, and you will probably die many times during your adventure, even if you are an experienced player. Potions, however, are a real game changer, especially during the most challenging boss fights (as the one against Odur). As you progress through the story, you will get the chance to upgrade your potions, unlocking new valuable effects. You need to use specific recipes to obtain the most powerful ones: let’s see how.
How to Unlock Potion Recipes in Thymesia
You need to fully upgrade the number of ingredient slots for your potions to unlock recipes in Thymesia. This can be done using Alchemy Enhancers at the Beacon. You won’t find these items by simply exploring the map, however, as you must defeat the mini-bosses of the main levels to obtain them. We recommend you be careful against them, as they are stronger than the standard enemies and take far less damage from your attacks.
Once you get nine Alchemy Enhancers, you can unlock three ingredient slots for your potions. This will allow you to combine three specific ingredients and generate new recipes.
All Potion Recipes in Thymesia
Each ingredient you find in Thymesia has unique abilities. Fennel, for example, can increase your health recovery, while Cinnamon lets you deal more damage to enemies for a short time. If you take them one by one, they have nice but minor enhancements, but if you combine them in the right way, you will get a new and powerful effect by using the proper potion recipe.
There are eight potion recipes in Thymesia, and you can find them in different ways. The first requires you to carefully read the story pieces you can collect while exploring the various sections of the game. You will find clues and riddles to resolve. Alternatively, you can also try to combine all the different ingredients you have until you unlock a new potion recipe. Otherwise, you can read the eight recipes listed below.
