ECS Z87H3-A2X Extreme Motherboard Exposed
The ECS Z87H3-A2X Extreme motherboard makes use of the Z87 “Lynx Point” PCH and LGA 1150 socket to support the upcoming Haswell processors. It comes with gold plated solid-state capacitors and a 12 Phase electrical VRM that is cooled by their CoolTech V cooling design. The CoolTech V heatsink itself is quiet large, featuring a red and silver color theme and making use of heatpipe solution which extends to the PCH heatsink. The PCH comes with a L337 Gaming monogram which indicates that the L337 ECS Z87H3-A2X Extreme is built specifically for gamers and enthusiasts.
The rest of the lineup from ECS was leaked not long ago by TechPowerUp which revealed other models such as Z87H3-AX Golden, and H87H3-M4. The Z87 Golden would be similar to the Extreme model but make use of ECS’s signature golden theme design. And if the leak wasn’t enough, ECS’s official Facebook page posted a teaser of the golden series motherboard which does look very similar to the Extreme except boasting a different color theme.
Coming back to the Z87H3-A2X Extreme specifications, it comes with three PCI-e 3.0 x16, one PCI-e 3.0 x1 and one PCI slot. There’s also a m-SATA slot situated beneath the PCH heatsink. A total of seven SATA 3 connectors offer storage options while voltage measurement Debug LED and various other overclocking switches can be found near the bottom-right of the board. The board comes with Multi-BIOS and a switch is located to enable near them. I/O includes 8 USB 3.0 ports, Dual LAN ports, SPDIF, Clear CMOS, HDMI, Displayport and 8.1 channel audio (Sound Blaster Cinema).
The Z87H3-A2X Extreme comes with an impressive feature set putting it in line with some of the other high end Z87 motherboards we have been looking in the recent days such as Gigabyte’s Z87X-OC and MSI’s Z87 MPower MAX. Pricing was not mentioned but VR-Zone did mention that the board would be on display at ECS’s Computex booth and available in June 2013.
