Today, Blizzard Entertainment announced that BlizzCon is coming back, for real this time, at the Anaheim Convention Center.

The latest in-person BlizzCon took place in October 2019, before the COVID pandemic. 2020 was never a real possibility, and Blizzard ultimately had to cancel the 2021 edition, too.

Later in 2021, it also delayed the digital equivalent of BlizzCon indefinitely and said it would reimagine what a new version of the once beloved in-person event would look like.

At last, fans will be able to meet once again in California on November 3rd and 4th. Blizzard didn't really share many details about the event yet, but they opened up booking for the hotel blocks, which is handled by official housing provider Maritz Global Events.

BlizzCon 2019 was quite eventful, thanks to the announcements of Diablo IV, Overwatch 2, and World of Warcraft: Shadowlands. The Shadowlands expansion was released the following year, breaking sales records for World of Warcraft and PC games in general.

Diablo IV is about to be released on June 6th, with strong anticipation likely to lead to new sales records.

However, Overwatch 2 didn't fare nearly as well. It launched late last year as an early access that only included the PvP mode. Fans had been waiting mostly for the PvE mode, which was the most interesting new game feature announced at BlizzCon 2019, thanks to the 'highly replayable Hero Missions' that would feature a full-fledged progression system with leveling and talent trees.

Just yesterday, though, Blizzard revealed that it had scrapped those PvE plans, much to the chagrin of fans. Overwatch 2 will instead receive event-based PvE missions, much like the original game.
