DiRT 4, the highly anticipated new entry in the racing rally series, is set to launch in just seven days. A while ago, Codemasters revealed that they would “crank up” settings on PlayStation 4 Pro and probably Scorpio too, once Microsoft’s console gets in stores later this year.

While interviewing the development team on DiRT 4, we also asked them if they could clarify the enhancements available to PS4 Pro users as well as the plans for the Scorpio version. Here’s their reply:

We have made a number of improvements for PlayStation 4 Pro. These include: Increased MSAA on the scene rendering, increased shadow map resolution, increased Image Based Lighting reflection resolution and accuracy. We have also increased the environment map resolution. The mirror rendering has MSAA enabled on Pro while the base PS4 doesn’t have MSAA at all.
With regards to Scorpio, it is too early for us to confirm anything but we are definitely excited by the new hardware and look forward to seeing what we can do with it to maximize the potential of DiRT 4 on consoles.

No specific details on resolution and/or frame rate improvements, then, but it does sound like PlayStation 4 Pro users can still expect a significant graphics bump which isn’t exactly a given looking at other recent games.

Codemasters wouldn’t go into further details about DiRT 4 on Scorpio, but they did say they would try to maximize the game’s potential on consoles which makes sense since Microsoft’s beefed up Xbox One is expected to become the most powerful console ever made.

Of course, gamers with high-end PC rigs will be able to go even beyond Scorpio. Speaking of, you may already pre-order the game on Steam and get bonuses such as a Hyundai R5 rally car, a Team booster pack and a Founder icon. You can find the official system requirements below; check back on Monday for our full DiRT 4 interview.
