Today, CAPCOM announced that Street Fighter 6 has sold over three million units to date. This third million was much slower than the first two, though, as Street Fighter 6 managed that much in just one month from its June release.

While definitely commercially successful (it 'destroyed' the previous concurrent record for Steam users playing fighting games), the latest entry in the legendary fighting game series is still very far from the publisher's lifetime sales goal. Back in April 2023, CAPCOM Representative Director Haruhiro Tsujimoto said the company hoped Street Fighter 6 could sell as much as ten million units throughout its lifetime, whereas Street Fighter V stopped at seven. To be fair, Street Fighter V was also limited by only being available on PlayStation consoles, whereas the new installment is out on Xbox as well.

A lot will depend on the game's continuous support. So far, the developers have added Rashid and A.K.I., with Ed set to be introduced before the end of Winter and Akuma coming in the Spring. In December, CAPCOM also released new outfits for the base game's eighteen fighters.

Street Fighter 6 received a perfect score here on Wccftech from Francesco De Meo:

Back when I tried Street Fighter 6 for the first time during last year's first beta, I had the feeling I had played something special, and the final version of the game only confirmed these feelings. With its excellent play modes, attention to accessibility, almost flawless online experience, and incredible game and character design, this is not only one of the best entries in the series but one of the best fighting games ever made, a game that is more than worthy of a perfect score.
