In just a few hours, Street Fighter 6 has become the most popular fighting game on Steam, smashing the concurrent players record which was previously held by Dragon Ball FighterZ.
As confirmed on the Steam Database, the sixth entry in the series by CAPCOM reached a concurrent players number of 65,873, which is a massive number, considering Street Fighter V peaked only at 14,783. Other fighting games had similar peaks, with only Mortal Kombat 11 managing to get past the 30,000 mark with 35,147 concurrent players and Dragon Ball FighterZ, which peaked at 44,303. MultiVersus is the only fighting game with more concurrent players than Street Fighter 6, but the platform fighter was released as a free-to-play game, so the comparison with a paid game wouldn't be fair.
To be honest, Street Fighter 6's huge number of concurrent players on Steam doesn't surprise me in the least. Not only is CAPCOM's fighting game one of the best fighting games released in decades, but it's also a solid PC port that runs well on various system configurations. Additionally, many hardcore fighting game players, myself included, switched to PC since the days of Street Fighter V, as the PC version of the previous entry in the series had considerably less input delay and other advantages that improved the experience.

Street Fighter 6 is the culmination of the experience CAPCOM introduced to the video gaming world back in 1987. With extremely solid gameplay mechanics, a wealth of excellent single-player content that teaches the basics in an extremely fun way, flawless online experience, amazing character design and attention to accessibility, Street Fighter 6 is in a league of its own, and one of the best fighting games in decades.
