CAPCOM shared new info and screenshots of Dragon's Dogma 2: Dark Arisen, the action RPG's expansion due on October 9, 2026.

During yesterday's CAPCOM Spotlight, the Japanese developer and publisher unveiled new details and footage of the upcoming Dragon's Dogma 2: Dark Arisen expansion.

Game Director Keto Kinoshita appeared on the stream to reveal that the studio pursued three goals: making the game more enjoyable to play, adding new experiences, and making it more accessible to pick up.

The new story content is set in a new area called Norgan, which he described as a land of ruin and mystery spread across a remote, far-off region. At the center of this story is the Fallen dragon depicted in the key art: where a heart should be, its chest is instead hollow, and despite its unnatural form, even in death, it retains an undying power. Kinoshita also teased Eir, a mysterious woman who pursues this dragon across Norgan. Much of the mystery in the new narrative is related to her: why does she continue to chase it, and what exactly is this dragon?

Kinoshita-san then moved to discuss the new Relics, obtainable by defeating monsters and exploring the land. By bringing these back to your base and having them appraised, players can acquire powerful weapons and armor. These aren't just gear with simple higher numerical stats, either: some pieces carry special effects or unique skills.

Gathering these Relics, equipping yourself, and heading back out to explore in order to face greater challenges and push your adventure further is the kind of repeatable core gameplay loop that CAPCOM has in mind for Dragon's Dogma 2: Dark Arisen. On that note, new challenge content is being introduced in the form of 12 unique dungeons.

The Game Director then claimed that the expansion directly addresses many user complaints about the base game. Furthermore, following the first free update released earlier this month, a new patch due in late August will introduce additional save slots, adjust the Dragonsplague condition, and increase weapon skill slots from four to six.

Dragon's Dogma 2: Dark Arisen is launching on October 9 for PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series S and X, and Nintendo Switch 2. The first public hands-on of the expansion will take place at Gamescom 2026 in Cologne, Germany.
