OnePlus 5 Android Oreo Beta Program Debuting In November, Final Build To Come Out In 2018
After launching the much-awaited OnePlus 5T, OnePlus wants to announce something for the software side of things. Just when we gulped our disappointment that the OnePlus 5T did not feature Oreo onboard, the company has come up with an announcement that the OnePlus 5 users will be able to register for Oreo Beta program later this month. It means that the OnePlus 5T will also get Oreo alongside. When launched, OnePlus's Oreo Beta program only included the OnePlus 3/3T.
To recall, the OnePlus 3 and OnePlus 3T recently received OxygenOS beta builds. The build that debuted before this one has brought the significant changes while the latest build iron out the small bugs. It also includes the October 2017 security patch, but it may be missing the critical KRACK patch that was rolled out with stable builds.
These builds do not fix all the bugs, but at least some have been patched. In fact, the latest beta ends up adding another bug that randomly hides some of the UI texts from time to time. Thankfully, OnePlus has noted this bug and is working on a fix already.
Everything aside, the central question is that when will OnePlus launch the stable build. Despite the high user involvement in the Oreo Open Beta program, it only included build 25 and 16 for the OnePlus 3 and 3T while the rest newer OnePlus phone users have been waiting for their beta builds. OnePlus explains that it is testing builds and won't rush into the stable build.
Betas for OnePlus 5 and 5T by the end of this year
We hope that the company does not take too long for rolling out stable builds. It feels a bit odd that OnePlus chose the last year's OnePlus 3 and 3T for the Oreo Beta program instead of the OnePlus 5. Also, the company did not launch the latest OnePlus 5T with Oreo out-of-the-box. To calm the users, OnePlus has assured that it will launch the betas for both the OnePlus 5 and 5T before the end of this year.
