NVIDIA's upcoming GeForce RTX 3050 6 GB entry-level GPU is now expected to launch in February at a sub $200 US price point.

NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3050 6 GB Launches In Q1 2024 & Aims The Sub-$200 US Gaming GPU Market

The NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3050 6 GB GPU was previously scheduled for a January launch but those plans have now changed and the card will instead aim the February timeframe. In addition to the launch timeframe, Chinese Board Channel forums also report that the pricing of the graphics card will be set in the sub $200 US market at $179. This makes the card the most affordable current-gen offering in both the Ampere and Ada Lovelace families.

As of right now, the current lowest prices for the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3050 8 GB GPU are above $200 US and start at $229.99 US while the cheapest RTX 4060 starts at $299.99 US. Meanwhile, a Radeon RX 6600 8 GB GPU can be found for $199.99 US while the Arc A580 starts at $169.99 US. The Intel Arc A580 and Arc A750 look to be positioned well against the entry-level NVIDIA & AMD lineup with fantastic prices and have been receiving various driver updates which have helped to improve their gaming performance and overall stability a lot compared to earlier this year.

As for the specifications, the new NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3050 GPU will be based on the GA107-325-Kx SKU and will utilize the PG173 SKU16 PCB. The GPU will be configured with 2048 cores and that's a reduction of 20% compared to the 8 GB model. The core clock will be maintained at 1470 MHz which is 17% lower than the 8 GB model. In terms of memory, we are looking at 6 GB VRAM & a 96-bit bus interface which is a reduction compared to the 8 GB VRAM & 128-bit featured on the original model.

The cut-down in specs will lead to certain designs that won't require any external power input and the overall power draw will also see a slight decline. You are mostly looking at a card that operates between 70 and 100W. The card will retain its quad display output featuring three DP and 1 HDMI output.

The card would act as a replacement for the older GeForce GTX 16 series cards which are being EOL'd rather soon. Expect more information from NVIDIA as we get closer to launch.
