Download watchOS 3.1.1 Final for Apple Watch – How to Update
Final version of watchOS 3.1.1 for Apple Watch is now available to download. The update is available over the air only.
watchOS 3.1.1 Improves Stability of Apple Watch and Irons out Bugs
watchOS 3.1.1 is a very subtle update for Apple Watch users. While it does not anything major to the wearable OS in general, but it irons out a lot of issues which users might have been facing since watchOS 3 dropped quite some time back.
Just like any other watchOS update, this new release is available to download over the air only. And since there is no IPSW file to play around with, therefore you cannot downgrade to an older version of watchOS at all. Once you have updated to a particular firmware version, you’re going to sit around for good until a new release is pushed out by Apple. Even if you install a beta version of watchOS on your Apple Watch, the only way to join the final channel is to wait for subsequent updates to arrive.
With that out of the way, let’s dive into the update process.
Download Update Over the Air (OTA)
Updating Apple Watch over the air is easy, but before you can even begin, make sure you place your wearable on the device’s magnetic charger. If you do not do this, the installation process will not move forward at all. Once done, launch the Watch app on your iPhone and then navigate to General > Software Update. The latest watchOS update will pop right up and you have to do is tap on ‘Download and Install.’ This will begin downloading the firmware onto your iPhone first. Once it’s downloaded, you’ll be prompted for installation. Respond accordingly.
The installation process will take quite a bit of time therefore do not panic. It’s best to leave your iPhone and Apple Watch on charge while everything is happening in the background. You really want everything to go as smoothly as possible therefore exercise some caution.
I would highly recommend updating to the latest version of watchOS right now as it ensures the smooth functioning of your wearable. Furthermore, watchOS updates tend to speed things up as well, hence making the update as important as ever. The update is highly recommended for those who are still in the ownership of the original Apple Watch hardware.
If you do update your Apple Watch to the latest watchOS build, do let us know in the comments section what you think about the update.
