AMD Ryzen 7000 X3D CPUs, The 2nd Gen 3D V-Cache Gaming Chips - Here's Everything We Know So Far 1

AMD has more official gaming benchmarks to share for the upcoming Ryzen 7 7800X3D 3D V-Cache CPU that launches next week.

AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D CPU WIth 3D V-Cache Shown To Be Up To 31% Faster Than The Intel Core i9-13900K In 1080p Gaming Benchmarks

The AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D is going to be the true successor to the Ryzen 7 5800X3D which has been a hot gaming chip ever since it launched in retail. This CPU is going to be the ideal choice for gamers with 8 cores, 16 threads, and the same 104 MB of cache (32 MB CCD, 64 MB V-Cache + 8 MB L2). The CPU comes with a base clock of around 4 GHz which could end up at least 500 MHz slower than the Ryzen 7 7700X and a boost clock of 5.0 GHz which is 400 MHz slower than the Ryzen 7 7700X.

In previous benchmarks, AMD compared the Ryzen 7 7800X3D to the Ryzen 7 5800X3D & Intel's Core i9-13900K CPUs in a small lineup of games but in the latest slide that's been leaked by the folks at Videocardz, the company shares even more gaming performance results. The new list is made up of 21 AAA games which were tested at the 1080p High preset and compared to the Intel Core i9-13900K.

The biggest differences can be seen in titles such as Horizon Zero Dawn and Total War where the AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D 3D V-Cache CPU offers up to 31% and 20% better performance. There are six additional titles where the CPU shows double-digit games and only in CS: GO and Ashes of The Singularity does the chip yield slower performance that is out of the marginal range. Overall, AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D CPU offers a 7% average performance improvement over the Core i9-13900K.

The Intel Core i9-13900K retails at around $550 US and consumes anywhere from 125-253W while gaming. The AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D has a 120W nominal TDP but as we have seen in our 3D V-Cache review, the chip would be consuming way less than that.

In fact, even if the chip consumes around 100W power (which will be a rare instance, this will still be half of what the Intel CPU consumes. So if you take that into perspective and the fact that AMD's A620 motherboards are out, offering users to pair this chip with a sub-$100 US design, it looks to be a fantastic deal for gamers.
