AMD Adds Ryzen AI Max PRO 400 Support to ROCm 7.14, Giving AI Developers a Head Start on the Gorgon Halo Platform
AMD looks ready to release the Ryzen AI MAX PRO 400 series in the coming weeks, as it has already added support for the upcoming PRO series to its latest ROCm 7.14 ecosystem. The company has rolled out its latest ROCm 7.14 software stack, which has received support for Ryzen AI MAX PRO 400, aka Gorgon Halo processors, officially.
The series includes processors like Ryzen AI Max+ PRO 495, Ryzen AI Max PRO 490, and the Ryzen AI Max PRO 485 processors, allowing AI developers to prepare before the CPUs hit the market. ROCm, which is AMD's open source software stack for AI and high-performance computing, continues to play a huge role in the company's AI strategy. The new version brings the complete ROCm ecosystem to the upcoming chips, including optimized libraries, AI frameworks, profiling tools, and GPU compute capabilities.

These are the utilities that developers rely on for machine learning, content creation, and scientific workloads. The official support for Gorgon Halo Pro chips allows developers to optimize their applications instead of scrambling after the launch. The update also expanded the support for developer tools. The ROCm Systems Profiler and ROCm Compute Profiler will now work on the Ryzen AI MAX PRO platforms, and the Compute Profiler adds compatibility layer with both Strix Halo and Strix Point chips.
That said, AMD has also enhanced its System Management Interface or SMI, allowing developers to monitor GPU utilization, memory usage, temperatures, power consumption, and other such metrics directly from the command line.
More developments have arrived at the right time, helping developers to take advantage of latest AI features such as newer versions of popular frameworks, including PyTorch 2.12 and JAX 0.10.0. This will allow them to use the features on AMD hardware without waiting for future software releases.
