Greenberg: Xbox Game Pass Members Can Play Xbox Play Anywhere on PC; New Exclusives Added as Regular Part of the Value
Microsoft’s head of Xbox marketing, Aaron Greenberg, has clarified that Xbox Game Pass subscribers will be able to play ‘Play Anywhere’ titles on PC as well.
Following yesterday’s announcement of Xbox One exclusives being added to the Xbox Game Pass, Greenberg took to Twitter to answer some questions from fans regarding the subscription.
It appears it was unclear for many that Xbox Play Anywhere titles can also be played on Windows 10 PC for Xbox Game Pass members, but Microsoft’s Xbox marketing head has now clarified this. “Yes if the title is Xbox Play Anywhere you can play the PC version too if you are a Game Pass member”, Greenberg said.
The Xbox executive was also asked whether exclusive titles added to the Game Pass will be part of rotation schedule. According to Greenberg, this isn’t the intention as exclusives are being added as a regular part of the Game Pass value. “We are adding these new Xbox One exclusive titles to the service with the intention of them being a regular part of the value for being an Xbox Game Pass subscriber.” He said.
Whether Xbox One exclusives will be permanently available remains to be seen, but it’s good to know that this is at least Microsoft’s intention with its Xbox Game Pass.
“We’ve only scratched the surface of the opportunity this new model brings to the industry and what we can deliver to our fans”, Microsoft’s head of Xbox, Phil Spencer, wrote yesterday. “We firmly believe Xbox Game Pass will be a catalyst to create new opportunities for game developers and publishers to innovate in the way games are developed and delivered, leading to entirely new ways to play.
