The Surge 2 To Feature Character Creation, More Open World Design, Higher Difficulty
The Surge 2, the second entry in the series developed by Deck13, has been announced earlier this month, promising to expand the original game’s experience considerably with some brand new features. Not much else has been said about the game in the announcement, but more on it has emerged online thanks to some new interviews.
Speaking to European websites like Hobby Consolas and Everyeye, Creative Director Jan Klose and Game Design Chief Adam Hetenyi have revealed some interesting new details. For starters, the game will not feature a set protagonist like the original, as players will be able to create their own character thanks to a character creator. Warren will still make an appearance in The Surge 2, only it’s not yet known in which capacity and role.
The team has also revamped world design considerably. The Surge 2 will be set in an entire city, which will be made up of interconnected areas. While exploring these areas, players will be able to take on a variety of subquests as well as interact with NPCs which can also be hostile.
Difficulty and AI will also be enhanced considerably from the original game. Enemies will adapt to the player’s action and will be even smarter while fighting in a group. A new type of enemy, lacking an exoskeleton, will also be found in the game, seeking to steal weapons and armor from the player.
