[Update] Square Enix and developer Lancarse confirmed the free The DioField Chronicle update introducing new content and features will go live on all formats next week, on March 6th.

[Original Story] The DioField Chronicle, the tactical role-playing game released by Square Enix last year on PC and consoles worldwide, is about to get expanded by a new free update that will introduce new story and gameplay content.

The new update, which will be released for free on a yet-to-be-confirmed release date, will introduce a new story scenario focused on Waltaquin, a new Very Hard difficulty setting, a new weapon type - the Magic Tome, and Extra Mode difficulty for New Game +.

As the game did not get any major updates following its release, it looked like Square Enix had left The DioField Chronicle behind, but thankfully that is not the case. While the game did feature an interesting mash-up of real-time and turn-based features, many were the things it could have done better, as highlighted by Chris in his review.

The DioField Chronicle. It has some good elements, but they are often covered by the average, meaning little gets the chance to stand out. Were it a little tighter, a little faster and not requiring you to do so much busy work, I could see this being a more enjoyable experience.

The DioField Chronicle is now available on PC, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch worldwide. We will let you know when the update launches as soon as an announcement is made, so stay tuned for all the latest news.
