Tango Gameworks Seemingly Had At Least One Unannounced Title in the Works, Ex Programmer Resume Mentions

Tango Gameworks, the recently shutdown Zenimax subsidiary, had at least one unannounced game in the works prior to its closure.

At least, that's what the LinkedIn resume of a former programmer mentions (via 'Timur222' on X). The programmer's experience mentions work as a lead programmer in 2023-2024 on an announced title as well as a role as a graphics programmer in 2024 on an unannounced title. Whether these are two different games isn't clear, but it might be possible that the programmer merely took another role at Tango. As such, it might be that we're looking at a single "unannounced" game. We've included a screenshot of the programmer's experience, as included on his resume, below (in case it gets pulled):

No further details about this "unannounced title" have been shared, but we do know that Tango Gameworks was working on a sequel to 2022's Ghostwire Tokyo - at least, the Microsoft/FTC court documents suggested as much. This sequel was supposed to be released later this year.

The closure of Tango Gameworks - the Japanese studio of industry legend Shinji Mikami - was announced earlier this month. The studio was known for various popular titles, including the Evil Within games, the above-mentioned Ghostwire Tokyo, and the more recent hit title Hi-Fi Rush. Following this terrible news, Bloomberg's Jason Schreier reported that Xbox is planning more layoffs.  When asked about the closure of Tango and Arkane Austin, Xbox President Sarah Bond provided an answer that didn't resonate that well among the community.

"There's no one size fits all to it for us [Xbox Game Studios e.g. Microsoft]. And so we look at each studio, each game team, and we look at a whole variety of factors when we're faced with making decisions and trade-offs like that. But it all comes back to our long-term commitment to the games we create, the devices we build, the surfaces, and ensuring that we're setting ourselves up to deliver on those promises."
