Yoshitaka Murayama, creator of the Suikoden series and scenario writer for the upcoming Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes, passed away earlier this month.

The sad news was confirmed earlier today with a letter signed by Rabbit & Bear Studios, Junko Kawano, Junichi Murakami, and Osamu Komuta which confirmed that Murayama-san passed away on February 6th due to complications with an ongoing illness. As his work on Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes was finished, the studio will continue to push his dream forward by releasing the game.

Having been a huge fan of the Suikoden series since the very first entry in the franchise, I am deeply saddened by Yoshitaka Murayama's passing. We at Wccftech extend our condolences to his family and loved ones.

Yoshitaka Murayama's legacy is going to be celebrated multiple times this year, not only with the release of Eiyuden Chronicles: Hundred Heroes, launching this coming April, but also with the release of Suikoden I & II HD Remaster: Gate Rune and Dunan Unification War, a collection including the first two entries in the series complete with all sorts of enhancements, such as visual improvements and more. Hopefully, the remasters will do well enough on the market to pave the way for an official Suikoden III remaster to bring the last entry in the series Murayama-san worked on on modern gaming hardware.
