The announcement of Shenmue 3, the long-awaited third entry in the series created by Yu Suzuki, is one of the best announcements that came during E3 2015. The upcoming PS4 and PC game skipped last year's E3, however, and it seems like it won't be shown at this year's edition as well.

In a new Kickstarter update, it's been confirmed that the team will be devoting June to game development and will skip E3 this year.

We have also been receiving questions from our backers regarding our plans to participate in upcoming game shows. While our schedule has yet to be finalized, we will be devoting June to game development and as a result, will unfortunately not be participating in any game shows. On the other hand, we look forward to bringing you our monthly updates and hope you do too!

Today's update also includes a new video which showcases a brand new character. You can check out the video by going here.

It's been some time since we had any sort of update on the development of Shenmue 3. Back in December, Yu Suzuki and his team confirmed that they moved into full production this year.

R&D for various game elements is on course as the development team shifts its focus towards production. Main game scenarios are nearing completion, motion capture tests are well under way, and voicing tests with the cast have begun. Yu-san and the production staff are happy to say they are enjoying the work as they continue to diligently make progress on the mini-games, events, and battles.

Shenmue 3 is now in development for PlayStation 4 and PC.
