Elon Musk's Tesla is gearing up to mass-produce its humanoid robots, according to a report from Taiwan's supply chain. Throughout 2025, Musk insisted that he believes Tesla is a robotics company as the trillionaire shifted his focus on robots from electric vehicles. Now, today's report suggests that Tesla is working with Taiwanese suppliers to provide components such as harmonic reducers and joint modules, with production expected to occur in California and Texas.
Taiwan's Mirle Automation & Asia Optical Expected To Play Role In Tesla's Humanoid Supply Chain
The report, courtesy of Taiwan's UDN, outlines that the robotics supply chain in Taiwan is abuzz with collaboration with Tesla. Two firms, namely Miele Automation and Asia Optical, will play a role in supplying the American company with the supplies for its robots. Among these, Mirle has started to supply harmonic reducers and joint modules to Tesla.
Mirle has also partnered up with China's Shenzhen Kedali Industry to set up a joint venture in Thailand. This venture will be located in Rayong, which is an industrial and automation hub in the country. The facility is expected to produce harmonic reducers, robotic actuators and other precision components. The report adds that since the plan includes an existing facility under Kedali, it is expected to begin mass production soon.

Taiwanese Firms Gear Up For Tesla's Humanoid Robot Mass Production, Says Report
As for Asia Optical, the firm is expected to play an important role in providing components for the Optimus 3 robot. Musk discussed the Optimus 3 robot in March, remarking that it would be "by far the most advanced robot in the world." In fact, the executive went so far as to remark, "I haven’t even seen demos of robots that are as good as Optimus 3." For production, the trillionaire remarked that low-volume production could kick off in the summer, while high-volume production would commence in 2027.
Asia Optical will be responsible for the robot's 'eyes' through its spherical and aspherical lens technology. Mass production of newer products is expected to begin in the latter half of this year and in 2027, which mimics Tesla's mass production timelines for the robots, suggests the report.
During Tesla's 2025 annual shareholder meeting, Musk had remarked that his firm was "building a one-million-unit production line in Fremont. And that’s Line one. And then a ten million unit per year production line here [Gigafactory Texas]."
