Conclusion

The Gigabyte GeForce RTX 2070 SUPER Gaming OC comes in at a $30 US premium over the Founders Edition with a price tag of $529.99 US. This is the same price as the Gigabyte GeForce RTX 2070 Gaming OC that launched last year but the difference is the upgraded TU104 versus the TU106 core on the previous card. The new TU104 allows for an average 15% performance uplift over its predecessor, it's almost like giving SUPER powers to the RTX 2070.

For an extra $30 US, you get slightly better performance, thanks to a +45 MHz out of the box boost overclock. You get a custom modified PCB which allows you great overclocking clocks considering it packs an 8+2 phase PCB design. The only thing that bothers me is that NVIDIA could've added a bit more performance if they used the same memory chips as the upcoming RTX 2080 SUPER that are running at 15.5 Gbps. Or if that affects the price, then AIBs should offer memory overclocks out of the box since GDDR6 DRAMs are known to overclock great.

The added performance gives the card enough boost to deliver amazing numbers at 1080p, 1440p and even in 4K with a moderate amount of visuals. The most interesting upgrade to the card is the improved RTX performance that is thanks to the added RT and Tensor cores. The card offers more performance than the RTX 2080 in games when RTX is enabled so if you're a fan of NVIDIA's ray-tracing implementation and want your games to look pretty (plus the performance hit), you'd definitely want to get an RTX 2070 SUPER if your budget falls around $500 US.

In addition to the overclock, you get a nice triple fan Windforce cooler that offers better cooling than the Founders Edition dual axial fan design. It is also a dual slot design with the standard PCB length which makes it an easy fit inside any PC chassis. The cooler is fitted with a very bulky heatsink that offers larger contact surface and to top it off, the backplate, which is stunning, comes with extra thermal pads for good thermal transfer on the opposite side of the card.

Gigabyte has taken everything from last years RTX 2070 and given it SUPERpowers with the RTX 2070 SUPER Gaming OC. The card has a great core overclock out of the box, features a custom PCB that is cooled by a fantastic heatsink that is known for its solid cooling performance and offers much better performance for the same price as the RTX 2070 Gaming OC. If your budget is around $500 US for a graphics card alone, don't miss out on this great triple fan custom graphics card.
