Gunfire Games is certainly keeping themselves busy. The studio is working hard to get Darksiders III out this year, and now they’ve announced another game, Remnant: From the Ashes. You can get a first look at this stylish new co-op shooter, below.

Remnant: From the Ashes is another take on the Left 4 Dead formula, except, in this case, zombies have been replaced by strange glowing tree monsters from another dimension called The Root. If only Groot from Guardians of the Galaxy was around to reason with them.

Remnant: From the Ashes is a third-person shooter, and will feature a “dynamically generated” post-apocalyptic world. As you would expect, the game has a survival element, with players crafting weapons and equipment and building up a home base they can populate with various craftsmen. You can also create and level up your own custom character, which can take on one of several different roles.

So yeah, again, very Left 4 Dead! That said, Remnant certainly looks nice (I’m really digging its visual style), and its enemies and bosses are more varied than the usual zombie hordes, so hopefully the game will be able to stand out from the 4-player co-op shooter crowd. What do you think? Are you excited for Gunfire Games’ latest project, or would you rather they focused on something a bit more unique?

Gunfire Games is mostly made up of devs from original (and now defunct) Darksiders developer, Vigil Games. In addition to Darksiders III and Remnant, they’ve also created a variety of games for the Oculus Rift, including the acclaimed RPG Chronos and the co-op shooter From Other Suns. Remnant: From the Ashes will be published by Perfect World Entertainment (Star Trek Online).

Remnant: From the Ashes hits PC, Xbox One, and PS4 sometime in 2019. Meanwhile, Gunfire’s Darksiders III arrives on November 27 of this year.
