Of all the smartphones coming later this year, Pixe 7a has been a conundrum. The phone has continuously leaked since last year, including real-world pictures, hands-on videos, specs, and whatnot, and we still don't know when it will launch. The most sensible guess would be that Google will launch the phone at I/O 2023 on 10th May, but the latest tip says otherwise.

Pixel 7a to hit the retail store on 31st April and will be available in three colors

According to renowned tipster SnoopyTech, Pixel 7a is launching, but it is not when you expect it. We have been expecting the phone to come out during the I/O 2023, but the latest tip suggests that it is launching two weeks from now, which makes 31st April 2023 the release date for the phone.

While at first, it could make little sense as to why Google would choose to release the device just 10 days before the event, where we are supposed to see the devices, anyway. But then you realize that the Google I/O 2023 will be filled with a lot of announcements, including our first proper look at Pixel Fold, the Pixel Tablet, Pixel 8, Android 14, and possibly the Tensor G3 chipset. In the midst of all of this, announcing the Pixel 7a would not make sense because other devices would already take the limelight, and considering how the a-series devices are generally more affordable, it makes even more sense that the company is quietly going to push them to the retail stores.

The last PIxel 7a leak showed the device in three colors - the phone is said to launch in blue, grey, and white colors. The previously rumored jade color will not be released and could be an accessory. Regarding the specs, we expect the same Tensor G2 inside the Pixel 7a, a 6.1" FHD OLED panel at 90Hz, a 64-megapixel Sony IMX787 camera on the back with a 12-megapixel ultrawide, and an Android 13 out-of-the-box.

Of course, we cannot confirm any of the details get. We might see the phone going official on 31st April; if not on that date, we will probably see it during the Google I/O 2023. Whatever the case might be, it would be safe to say that the phone is eventually coming out this year, we just don't know the exact release date.
