Trump Mobile Wants To Entice You To Buy The “Yellow Plastic” T1 Phone By Offering A Free Charging Brick

Whatever else you might think of Trump Mobile, you can't accuse it of lacking a sense of humor, albeit a fairly twisted one. After all, it promised gilded glory in the form of the T1 Phone, but delivered "yellow plastic," and then offered a charging brick for free as a consolation prize of sorts, replete with the regal disdain of a potentate of old.

Trump Mobile's T1 Phone appears to have been designed by someone who used to work in the industry a decade ago: a cheap plastic rear, a headphone jack, an SD card slot within the SIM tray, and a free charging brick

We noted towards the end of June that Trump Mobile had finally opened the sales channel for the much-delayed T1 Phone, but without clearing its accompanying reservation backlog first. Well, just a few days later, the social media is brimming with videos of people panning the T1 Phone for its tacky "yellow plastic" look, especially against the backdrop of Trump Mobile having originally promised a polished, gilded offering.

If you are one of the unlucky ones to have ordered the T1 Phone, rest assured that Trump Mobile has prepared a consolation prize: a charging brick is included in the box for free, as confirmed by Android Authority only recently. The company also offers you a low-quality TPU case.

For the benefit of those who might not be aware, the T1 is an Android smartphone with middling specs: a 6.8-inch screen (against Trump Mobile's own assertions of a 6.78-inch one), a 50MP main rear camera, a 50MP selfie camera, a 5,000mAh battery (with support for 30W charging), 512GB of storage, and a 3.5mm headphone jack.

As such, the T1 Phone appears to be a relic of a bygone era: a SIM card tray with a hybrid slot that can accommodate an SD card, a headphone jack, and a free charger. It harkens to an age when freebies were copious and builds decidedly plastic, as if the phone were designed by someone who retired back in 2015.

Of course, a few weeks back, iFixit unequivocably proved that the T1 Phone was nothing but a glorified copy of the HTC U24 Pro, replete with the same mainboard and display connectors.

Meanwhile, Trump Mobile has already begun positioning the T1 Phone's $499 retail tag as a "promotional price," claiming only that its new price tag would be "less than $1,000." So, if you are color blind, immune to political overtones, and in a chronically nostalgic state, do grab the T1 Phone before its promotional pricing ends. After all, a $499 yellow plastic is better than an $800 one.
