Google’s latest Pixel 2 lineup seems to be surrounded with negative reports coming from the users. While Pixel 2 XL appears to be most plagued with issues but the smaller Pixel 2 is also not perfect.

According to a report from Android Police, some Pixel 2 users are taking to online forums for reporting weird clicking noises coming from the phone. An active thread in the Pixel User Community forums lists more than 100 cases where Pixel 2 users are complaining about clicking and high-pitched noises coming from the speakers on the phone. This issue is also reported for Pixel 2 XL but seems to be more prominent on the Pixel 2.

A Pixel 2 user named Roy M has posted on the Pixel User Community forums, here is what he wrote:

Pixel 2 high pitch frequency sound and clicking when the screen is on and unlocked with ear up to the device like you are on a phone call. This also happens after a reboot, safe mode, airplane mode, and factory reset. I purchased two Pixel 2 phones both have the high-frequency noise but only one has the clicking.

He also tried to record the clicking sound on his Pixel 2 phone. You can listen to it here.

Turning off NFC seems to solve the issue for some users

Some users have also noticed that the clicking sounds seems to stop when they turn off the NFC. Well, not just noises from the speakers, there is a lot more that has been troubling the Pixel 2 users. Google Support mentions that the company is working on fixing the reported issues, but users may have to wait for some time for it to arrive on their phones.

We hope Google brings a fix for all the issues on the Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL units as soon as possible because such issues can very well put off the potential buyers. If you are among the ones who have been planning to get a Pixel 2 or Pixel 2 XL, its best to monitor what Google does to solve the issues.
