OnePlus phones are famous for many things, but a good camera is not one of them. Don't get me wrong, the cameras are decent enough, but when compared with other flagships in the same price bracket, they often lag behind. That appears to be changing because the OnePlus Open had a decent camera, and so did the OnePlus 12. Now, the company has shared some official camera samples from the OnePlus 12R, and if these samples are something to be believed, then we have a winner in our hands.
The OnePlus 12R camera samples show how the company has made massive strides to improve its camera
Now, we all know that OnePlus 12R will not be a flagship phone. Therefore, to expect a flagship-level camera would be wrong. While it does stand true, the OnePlus China's president has decided to go ahead and post some convincing camera samples that might make you think twice.
Now, it is more than safe to say that the OnePlus 12R or OnePlus Ace 3 camera samples look stunning. The phone uses a Sony IMX890 as a primary sensor, and it is one of the most capable sensors on the market. However, the company is using an "ultra-clear image quality algorithm” and “super light and shadow image algorithm" to ensure that the results you are getting are excellent in every case and the images do not lag behind.
I will be honest, I was a bit disappointed after finding out that the OnePlus 12R will have an 8-megapixel ultra-wide sensor, but after looking at the results from this 50-megapixel sensor, I do not think that I would be sad about the other two sensors on the phone which are passable, at best. Of course, these pictures are edited, and as a photographer, I do advise everyone to edit the images that they take as it allows you to get the extra visual flair, which makes a lot of difference and can make boring photos stand out even more.
With the images out, we already know that the rest of the OnePlus 12R will be an impressive device. Now, all we need is an impressive starting point, and a lot of other phones in the upper-mid-range segment can start running away.
