Nokia Trademarks New Voice Assistant and Calls It Viki – Possibly to Take on iPhone and Galaxy S8
Shortly after the announcement of Nokia’s first ever Android-powered handset, it looks like the best of what the company has to offer might be coming up in the near future. According to a trademark filing, we might see a Nokia branded smartphone running a completely different virtual assistant.
Latest Trademark Filing Shows the Term ‘Viki’ Being a Potential AI-Powered Virtual Assistant in an Upcoming Nokia Branded Flagship
According to a leaked document, it looks like Nokia could be incorporating what looks to be a virtual assistant similar to what you’ve seen on the iPhone and what is expected to be running on the upcoming Galaxy S8. This isn’t the first time what we’ve seen a virtual assistant running on an Android device. Huawei’s curved mobile computing marvel known as the Honor Magic came with its own assistant, and just like this one, it is possible that Viki is a self-learning program and is able to keep up with what the user likes or dislikes and is able to provide them with personal recommendations overtime.
Once again, this provides more insight that the Nokia 6 is definitely not the first and last handset to be released by the former Finnish smartphone giant. Even in an FAQ session, the company stated that a Snapdragon 835-running device was in the works and the reason why the current one comes with a low-powered SoC is because it is one that can be used by everyone. While the trademark has been filed, we’re not sure how this virtual assistant is going to function.
Earlier in 2017, Nokia confirmed that it was going to enter the smartphone race once again and if we have gazed upon one device, then we’re certain that the next one could be announced during the MWC 2017 trade show. Are you looking forward to seeing how the Viki virtual assistant is going to be running on the upcoming Nokia flagship? Let us know right away.
