Midnight M3 MacBook Air with improved anodization seal for less fingerprints

Apple was initially rumored to host its event by the end of this month to announce the new OLED iPad Pro and the MacBook Air models. However, the company announced only the M3 MacBook Air today via press release. It appears that the company will wait to announce the OLED iPad Pro some other day, potentially later this month. Apple has announced the M3 MacBook Air in the same color options as the M2 version, but the Midnight color comes with an improved anodized seal to reduce fingerprints.

The M3 MacBook Air's Midnight color option will show significantly fewer fingerprints due to a new anodization seal

As mentioned, Apple has announced the M3 MacBook Air with a $100 cheaper price tag than the M2 version. The base model has 8GB of unified memory and 256GB of storage capacity. The M3 MacBook Air models are available in Starlight, Gray, Silver, and Midnight color options. While the colors are the same, the Midnight option now features a better anodization seal to reduce fingerprints.

With the M2 MacBook Air launch, the midnight color option received a fair share of criticism due to its ability to attract hefty fingerprints. It appears that Apple has taken note of the situation and improved the anodization seal to reduce fingerprints on all models. Apple says:

With its durable aluminum unibody enclosure that’s built to last, the new MacBook Air is available in four gorgeous colors: midnight, which features a breakthrough anodization seal to reduce fingerprints; starlight; space gray; and silver.

Apple introduced the new anodization seal with the launch of the M3 MacBook Pro models last year, and it has finally made its way to the MacBook Air lineup. The best part about the new addition is that the improved seal is available in all color options. While the Midnight color option will show fewer fingerprints than before, the other options will show even less due to a lighter color.

The pre-orders for the M3 MacBook Air will begin on Friday, March 8. We will be covering additional details on the product, so stick around for more information on the machine.
