Apple has finally upgraded the MacBook Air with an M3 chip, featuring major performance gains compared to M1

In terms of looks, the new M3 MacBook Air models are identical to the previous version. Note that Apple has upgraded both models of the MacBook Air as it has seen fit to discontinue the 15-inch model from last year's lineup. As mentioned, the latest machines still feature an aluminum unibody design with 13.6-inch and 15.3-inch screen sizes. Apart from the design, Apple made various internal improvements, such as upgraded internals and connectivity.

The new MacBook Air is powered by Apple's M3 chip and, according to Apple, it is 60 percent faster than the company's M1 chip. Compared to the MacBook Air powered by the Intel chip, the M3 MacBook Air is 13 times more powerful. The M3 chip will deliver faster computational and graphical performance compared to the M2 chip as well. However, the device also ensures that it is future-proof with an upgraded Neural Engine, allowing the machine to handle AI tasks more efficiently.

Other than this, the M3 MacBook Air also houses a new AV1 decode engine, which will bolster high-quality video from streaming services more efficiently. The new machine also gains Wi-Fi 6E support for faster download and upload speeds. However, you will have to buy a dedicated router that supports the new standard. In terms of audio, the machine also features Voice Isolation and Wide Spectrum microphone models for enhanced sound recording and voice clarity.

Lastly, the M3 MacBook Air is also capable of supporting two external displays with the lid closed. Previously, you only had the option to connect just one external display. If you are interested in getting your hands on the device, pre-orders will begin on Friday, March 8, later this week. The color options available are the same - Starlight, Space Gray, Silver, and Midnight. As for the price, the M3 MacBook Air is priced at $1,099. We will be sharing additional details on the device, so be sure to stick around.
