Apple is now firmy ensconced within its typical production ramp-up phase ahead of the critical September launch window, when the Cupertino-based tech giant is expected to unveil its first foldable iPhone, tentatively called the iPhone Ultra or the iPhone Fold, as well as the iPhone 18 Pro duo.

Now, a new Weibo-based report has disclosed that Apple has upped its orders for vapor chambers, largely in-line with the growing initial orders for the iPhone Ultra and the iPhone 18 Pro duo, with a specific proportion apparently reserved for next year's iPhone 20 as well.

Apple is apparently going big on vapor chambers for the iPhone Ultra, the iPhone 18 Pro duo, and the iPhone 20

According to the Weibo-based tipster, Fixed Focus Digital, Apple has “significantly increased its total orders for vapor chambers,” adding that this is “possibly in preparation for enhanced cooling in its first foldable iPhone and the next-generation 20th-anniversary model.”

While the tipster believes the order is meant for the iPhone Ultra and next year's iPhone 20, we think that there remains a hefty probability that these vapor chambers might go within the upcoming iPhone 18 Pro duo as well, especially as tidbits have continued to suggest that the upcoming Pro models will sport heftier versions of these cooling-focused components.

Do note that Apple is reportedly gunning for a production volume of around 10 million units for its foldable iPhone this year, while targeting a volume of around 70 million units for the iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max.

Meanwhile, the tipster Reptalica recently shared a CT scan of Apple's iPhone 18 Pro, showing a "huge" vapor chamber that "extends to the top of the phone."

The scan also showed that the central pill-shaped cutout within the display will now house only the front camera and the Face ID scanner, with the IR flooder moving to the side, and possibly beneath the screen. This arrangement should allow Apple to decrease the size of the cutout and the resulting Dynamic Island, settling a long-running debate about its exact dimensions.
