Kingdom Hearts 4 may release in 2027, according to some recent findings

Kingdom Hearts 4 has officially resurfaced, and the community is already buzzing about what this means for Square Enix’s 2027 release schedule. Following a surprise showing at the June Nintendo Direct, we now know the game will launch day one on PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch 2. But beyond the gameplay, the community is now fixated on a potential release date for the Disney-meets-Final Fantasy RPG that points to a monumental year for the publisher.

As spotted by user Maku on X, multiple Australian retailers cite a 2027 window for Kingdom Hearts 4 in their pre-order listings for the upcoming Kingdom Hearts Collection [I~III]. This pattern is consistent across several outlets, so a single store error is unlikely.

Could 2027 Be the Definitive Year for JRPGs?

The timing feels almost too perfect, but it's not unreasonable for Square Enix to release Final Fantasy VII Revelation and Kingdom Hearts 4 back-to-back in the span of a few months. The publisher already showed how it is inclined to honor an anniversary milestone by releasing the conclusion of the remake trilogy on the original's 30th anniversary, concluding it in less than a decade. By this logic, Kingdom Hearts 4 would serve as the core for the series' 25th anniversary celebrations in 2027.

If these rumors hold water, 2027 is shaping up to be one of the greatest years for JRPGs in recent memory. With major titles like Final Fantasy VII Revelation, Persona 4 Revival, Xenoblade Genesis, and the highly anticipated Persona 6 all potentially converging, we are looking at a Golden Age revival that genre fans haven't seen in decades.
