The iPhone 8 & iPhone 8 Plus Vs The S8, Note 8, Xperia XZ Premium And The LG V30 – Specification Breakdown + Analysis
Now that we're done with Apple's 2017 iPhone launch, its time to dig in. Cupertino's smartphones are perhaps the most well received devices throughout the world. Apple's a big brand, perhaps the biggest in the world at this time. And it's all due to one simple fact: the company never settles for what's popular in the market. Now that the iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus are out, it's time to look how well the pair stack up against Android. While Apple's made little design changes since last year, plenty has changed under the hood. Let's find out what.
Apple's iPhone 8 & iPhone 8 Plus Pegged Against Android's Finest For Specifications, Design And Features
This year, the flagship world witnesses some big changes. These are namely edge to edge OLED displays and 10nm processors. Both have allowed manufacturers to race ahead of 2016. For Android, it's the Galaxy Note 8, LG V30, Galaxy S8/S8+ and Sony's Xperia XZ Premium with the flagship ball. For Apple's it's three new iPhones. Now, let's take a look at how well each performs when pitted against each other.
Starting off from design, all the devices save the V30 have a glass back. Samsung's Galaxy Note 8, S8 and LG'v V30 have similar OLED front displays with no buttons. The Xperia XZ Premium on the other hand has an IPS LCD display. Screen resolutions stand at 1440x2960 for the S8 and the Note 8. The V30 and XZ Premium have display resolutions that stand at 1440x1880 and 3840x2160 respectively. Screen sizes stand at 5.4, 5.8, 6.0 and 6.3 inches for the XZ, V30, S8 and Note 8.
The iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus have 4.7" and 5.5" screens respectively. Screen resolution is 1334x750 and 1920x1080 pixels for the pair. Their back is glass and overall build is aluminum. Apple claims that the iPhone 8's glass is surgical grade. However the accuracy of this claim can only be judged once the smartphone pair is tested throughly. Moving towards camera, the Xperia and Galaxy S8 have single sensors of resolutions 19MP and 12MP respectively. The iPhone 8's rear camera is also 12MP and lets in slightly less light than the S8 with an aperture of f/1.8. Samsung's flagship smartphone has an aperture width of f/1.7.
The iPhone 8 Plus has a rear dual camera setup with 12MP wide angle and telephoto cameras. Aperture width for the pair stands at f/1.8 and f/2.8 respectively. Both the lens feature OIS, previously restricted to only one lens for the iPhone 7 Plus. The Xperia XZ Premium wins hands down in front camera megapixels with a massive 13MP sensor. The Galaxy S8 and Note 8 bag second positions with 7MP while the iPhone 8 and 8 Plus both come in third.
