Google To Address Unresponsive Touchscreen Issue On Pixel 2 XL With The Next Update
The Google Pixel 2 and the Pixel 2 XL have been plagued with a series of software level issues, and Google has been fixing them one by one. Now, in the latest reports, the company is going to fix an issue that is related to the Pixel 2 XL. A few days back, several Pixel 2 XL owners took to Google’s product forums to report a new issue with the display - unresponsive touchscreen edges.
As reported by Android Police, this issue has been affecting the touch response on some portions of the display. It mostly occurred on the edges of the screen when tapping for gestures. One Pixel 2 user named Brandon Jones also posted a video to show the unresponsive behaviour of the display when touching the sides for gestures. Many users have also reported that it is a hit and miss issue on the Pixel 2 XL, sometimes the device registers the touch while sometimes it does not respond.
Apparently, this issue is a side effect of the accuracy of Google's software when it comes to repudiating accidental touches. After many users complained about the issue, Google replied on the forum and assured that the fix is on the way. Here's what Google posted:
Thanks for all the reports here, and to those that sent up additional info. The team has been investigating, and this will be addressed in a future OTA update. Stay tuned.
Next software update will fix the issue
For the Pixel 2 XL users who do not use edge gestures, this issue may not have impacted their day to day usage as much. However, on some apps that include elements placed on the edge of the display, this issue might have caused inconvenience as the touch response on the edges is not uniform. Thankfully, Google has regarded the issue and will soon roll out an update to fix it. Stay tuned with us for more on the software issues on both the Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL.
