Google Photos is one of the best services for saving your pictures online, and it keeps upgrading to become even niftier. Today, WordPress announced its newly formed partnership with Google Photos making it easier to upload images directly to WordPress.

From now on WordPress users can connect their Google Photos libraries with WordPress account to upload photos directly to their blogs. After linking the account with Google Photos, users have to select “Photos from your Google Photos library” on the Media Library in WordPress, and it will show your recent uploads to your account. Once you choose the image, it gets copied directly to your media library on WordPress for use on the website.

Google Photos

In its blog post, WordPress writes:

We’re working on integrating this deeper into your WordPress.com experience, and we hope to integrate more services with WordPress.com in the future. You can find more help at our Photos from Google support page, or by contacting us.

Not just Google Photos, Google’s advanced search functions are also accessible directly within the WordPress library with simple keywords to find relevant pictures within the account even if you haven’t added any description in your Google Photos. For example – if you have photos of cats or dogs then you can directly perform search and Google will pick photos according to your keyword. You can also create a gallery in WordPress with photos from Google.

Also, if you have a WordPress.com plan that supports videos will also be able to fetch video content directly from Photos. For the self-hosted WordPress sites, you can still integrate it with Google Photos with the help of Jetpack plugin. The function is now available for use.
