Cyberpunk 2077 Largely Ignored by Game Critics Awards as FFVII Remake Takes Home Three Wins

Alessio Palumbo

The Game Critics Awards for E3 2019 have been announced and they have seen Square Enix taking away three prizes with Final Fantasy VII Remake, including Best of the Show, Best Console Game and Best Role Playing Game (RPG). Bethesda got two prizes with DOOM Eternal (Best PC Game and Best Action Game).

Perhaps the biggest surprise is that Cyberpunk 2077 by CD Projekt RED has been largely ignored by the outlets voting for the Game Critics Awards. It only got a prize titled 'Special Commendations for Graphics', which isn't wrong by any means, but Cyberpunk 2077 is much more than that. For our part, we awarded the game not only the Best Tech Showcase prize but also the most important one, Best Game of E3 2019.
