Samsung has officially announced the Galaxy Z Fold 6

Samsung has updated its foldable handset lineup with the introduction of the Galaxy Z Flip 6 and the Galaxy Z Fold 6, though once you go through their specifications, you will notice that the latest handsets are not all that different from the Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Galaxy Z Flip 5. However, if you want to get any one of these, they will cost you slightly more than what you are used to paying for the past few generations, so let us check out all the details.

Samsung used higher-quality materials for the Galaxy Z Fold 6, with the additional software updates intended to make the user keep it for as long as possible

Like the Galaxy Z Flip 6, the Galaxy Z Fold 6 is outfitted with Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 and will get seven years of annual software updates. Samsung has gone the extra mile to ensure that its foldable flagship is a little lighter and more durable than past releases, with the Korean giant implementing an upgraded hinge design. The inner flexible glass will now hold out better in long-term use, with the Galaxy Z Fold 6 also receiving an IP48 rating. This means that the device is dust-resistant, and according to The Verge, the number ‘4’ represents resistance to foreign materials that measure 1mm in size or greater.

The cover display of the Galaxy Z Fold 6 now measures 6.2 inches, which is a reduction compared to the 6.3-inch panel of the Galaxy Z Fold 5. The resolution is a decent 2,376 x 968 pixels, with the inner display featuring a 7.6-inch size. Samsung did cut corners with the camera configuration, as it reuses nearly the same hardware from last year. The primary 50MP sensor makes a return, as does the 10MP 3x telephoto unit. Fortunately, a slightly improved 12MP ultrawide-angle shooter is a part of the setup, with Samsung claiming that it performs better in low-light conditions.

As for the price, the Galaxy Z Fold 6 offers 512GB of internal storage, which cannot be expanded, for $1,899. Samsung introduced a $100 price hike to this model after several generations, which may not play well with potential buyers who are only getting an iterative update as the whole package, with absolutely zero freebies. Both this flagship and the Galaxy Z Flip 6 will be available to purchase on July 24, but if you are getting a decent discount on the Galaxy Z Fold 5 and the Galaxy Z Flip 5, we recommend that you entertain those purchases instead.
