Samsung’s Galaxy S27 Pro, reportedly launching next year, could blur the lines between the Galaxy S27 Ultra and the Galaxy S27+ because the company is said to equip it with ‘top of the line’ features that should make it an instant hit for consumers who don’t wish to move to the upcoming iPhone 18. Now, a new rumor claims that there’s another reason to be excited about this release, but those looking forward to the Galaxy S27 Ultra will be severely disappointed.
Samsung could equip the Galaxy S27 Pro with a 5,000mAh battery, the same capacity as the Galaxy S26 Ultra, leading to incredible runtimes
Based on the display size mentioned by kro on X, the Galaxy S27 Pro is said to measure 6.5 inches, with the flagship being smaller than the Galaxy S26 Ultra and likely the Galaxy S27 Ultra. However, despite the shrunken footprint, the rumor claims that Samsung won’t have any problems outfitting a decent 5,000mAh battery, enabling the upcoming handset to experience those impressive runtimes.
Looking at this potential upgrade, which could be made possible with the omission of the S Pen, it’s refreshing to see that while Samsung can bring decent battery sizes to its smaller devices, it cannot give the same treatment to its Galaxy S Ultra series. The 5,000mAh cell has been around in not just the Galaxy S26 Ultra, but we expect it to be found in the Galaxy S27 Ultra too, limiting Samsung’s top-end smartphone’s ability to last longer.
Then again, Samsung could be deliberately making these moves because it has been a while since its less expensive flagships have been best sellers. Historically, the ‘Ultra’ variants have always been mass produced in higher volume. Unfortunately, with the current price of the Galaxy S26 Ultra unable to fit everyone’s budget, it’s about high time that the company finds a middle ground.
Given that the Galaxy S27 Pro is also rumored to feature nearly the same camera configuration as the Galaxy S27 Ultra, a lower price could mean the device offers similar value as Apple’s iPhone 17. The Galaxy S27 Pro sure sounds like an exciting prospect, but it’s too early to be relying on rumors, which is why readers should treat this information with a pinch of salt and await future updates.
