Samsung is reportedly switching up its 2027 flagship smartphone lineup with the Galaxy S27 Pro’s inception, a device that will offer the majority of the Galaxy S27 Ultra’s hardware and features while bringing fewer trade-offs to the table. One area where the newer model is expected to shine is in the camera, and buyers who want to save a few bucks will be pleased to learn that there’s just one difference in the optics department separating the Galaxy S27 Pro from the Galaxy S27 Ultra.
Only the telephoto camera on the Galaxy S27 Pro and Galaxy S27 Ultra is different, according to a new rumor
We’ve already reported previously that the Galaxy S27 Pro will share the same primary 200MP sensor as the Galaxy S27 Ultra, but yeux1122’s blog has some exciting news to share in the latest post. The second unit, which is the ultrawide-angle one, is said to have a maximum resolution of 50MP, which is, once again, shared between the Galaxy S27 Pro and Galaxy S27 Ultra. As for the final camera, which is the telephoto shooter, here’s where that one difference materializes.
The Galaxy S27 Pro is rumored to feature a 50MP ALoP (All Lenses on Prism) unit with 3.5x optical zoom, whereas the Galaxy S27 Ultra is also expected to sport a 50MP camera, but it will have a longer zoom range of 5x. If you’ve noticed, there’s one sensor missing from the Galaxy S27 Ultra, and that’s the 3x telephoto camera that Samsung is rumored to remove because of its subpar capabilities.
When comparing the two camera configurations, it’s clear that the Galaxy S27 Pro will offer minimal trade-offs compared to the Galaxy S27 Ultra, suggesting Samsung is positioning it as a premium-tier offering rather than an entry-level flagship. If the Korean giant is bringing a minimum number of changes to the camera hardware, it means we should expect more upgrades from the Galaxy S27 Pro.
Unfortunately, we have yet to stumble upon all the details surrounding Samsung’s fourth Galaxy S27 member, but based on what we’re looking at right now, we’re excited to see what’s in store for next year’s Galaxy Unpacked event.
