Despite selling two million copies on day one, Pearl Abyss has had to deal with a few controversies related to the Crimson Desert launch, including the not-so-great average reviews, the stock crash, the fact that it doesn't work on Intel ARC GPUs at all, and anonymous reports alleging issues with the studio culture. That said, the developers are also highly focused on simply improving the game based on user feedback. After the day-one patch, they've already released a new update that adds private storage at the Howling Hill Camp, allowing players to store Inventory items.
Patch 1.003 also introduces more Abyss Nexuses across Pywel to improve fast travel, improves keyboard and mouse controls by adding keyboard shortcuts for Inventory (I), Skills (K), Journal (J), and Map (M) and fixing various duplicate key assignment and input bugs, and introduces a 120Hz mode toggle on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X in Settings.
There are also several balance tweaks to Crimson Desert bosses and other content:
- Reduced Health and Attack of specific enemies and bosses
- Increased Health restored by food and ingredients
- Decreased QTE difficulty for Arm Wrestling and the Mount pin situation
- Reduced Stamina consumption for blocking and for Nature's Grasp
- Lowered difficulty of Marksmanship and Archery Contest minigames
- Lowered difficulty of ambush encounters before the Reed Devil boss
- Increased stun gauge accumulation on bosses after a successful parry
- Adjusted attack patterns for Kearush the Slayer
- Restorative items sold by Carl at Howling Hill Camp reduced from 10 Silver to 1 Silver
Pearl Abyss also vowed to continue improving the controls, one of the game's main weaknesses at launch, both for keyboard and mouse and gamepads in future updates.
