OLD iPad Pro launch event

We have previously covered that Apple is planning to launch the OLED iPad Pro and new M3 MacBook Air models as soon as this week. Now, a prominent analyst corroborates past reports that Apple will launch the devices by the end of this month, but it will ditch the event in favor of a press release. While the final details rest with Apple, it appears that the company wants to keep the redesigned models of the iPad lowkey compared to the M3 MacBook Pro models.

Apple plans to launch the OLED iPad Pro and other product upgrades via a press release

Last year, Apple did not release any new iPad models, which is evident in the company's sales figures for 2023. The iPad has seen a major decline in sales over the past year, and the trend appears to continue this year. The main reason for the company's declining sales is the lack of innovation in design and upgrades. The iPad Pro has remained the same in terms of design and productivity for a long time, and it is high time the company brought innovation to its iPad lineup. With the launch expected for the end of this month, Apple has major plans for the OLED iPad Pro.

While a new design is more than a welcome addition, iPadOS continues to put a cap on the true capabilities of the iPad. Apple should create differentiating features in iPadOS, at least for the iPad Pro models, to transform it into a "computer". Currently, all iPads behave the same way, other than the Stage Manager feature on some iPad models. This means that older iPad models, which you can get for cheaper, can cannibalize the sales of the newer models. This ultimately has an impact on the company's sales figures and the overall demand to get a new device.

Apple is expected to launch the OLED iPad Pro models with a new design and form factor, which could see daylight as soon as this week. According to Mark Gurman from Bloomberg, Apple will launch the new models via press release as the company is preparing a "series of online videos and marketing campaigns." Alongside the new iPad Pro models, Apple will also announce the upgraded iPad Air and its bigger 12.9-inch sibling with an M2 chip. We are also expecting the company to announce the new M3 MacBook Air models.

Since Apple did not announce any iPads last year, it would be a wise move for Apple to host an event later this year for the device to create a presence online. Additionally, Apple should also host an event to highlight the changes and new designs more effectively. It remains to be seen if the company will ditch the event in favor of an online release, as the final word rests with Apple. We will be covering the launch extensively, so be sure to stick around.
