Yesterday, we reported the first Geekbench benchmarks of an alleged AMD Strix Point "Ryzen" APU featuring up to 12 Zen 5 cores. It looks like the chip has been tested again, this time running at 2.30 GHz clock speeds, almost a 1 GHz speed up versus the previous ES variant. The APU has the same OPN ID of "100-000000994-14_N" and is identified as "AuthenticAMD Family 26 Model 32 Stepping 0".

It looks like Geekbench still has problems reading the correct specifications of this chip as it refers to the correct L1d, L1i & L2 cache but the L3 cache is reported at just 8 MB which should be correct for the Zen 5C cores onboard this chip but there are also Zen 5 cores which equal 16 MB of cache & that totals to 24 MB. Other specifications of the AMD Strix Point "Ryzen" APU include 12 cores & 24 threads. The clock speeds are rated at 5.11 GHz base frequency but the actual clocks settle around 2.3-2.4 GHz.

As for performance, while the single-core score sees a small uptick from the previous result to 1224 points, the multi-threaded score sees a big gain. Geekbench reports a multi-thread score of 12,754 points which is a 59% increase in performance versus the previous score with a clock speed bump of around 66%. So it looks like we can expect some big gains since not only does AMD Strix Point APU offer more cores (12 vs 8 or 50% more) but also features a brand-new architecture. That should be great for mobility platforms.

As you can see from the chart above, the new score puts the AMD Strix Point "Ryzen" APU ahead of the fastest Phoenix (Ryzen 9 7940HS) and Hawk Point (Ryzen 9 8945HS) APUs. This is a good result for the Zen 5 core architecture and if this ends up being true, then we are going to see huge jumps in multi-threaded performance with the next-gen Ryzen 9000 mobility lineup.
