AMD has just released record-breaking performance numbers for its upcoming 96-Core flagship CPU, the Ryzen Threadripper PRO 7995WX.

We have already seen a teaser of AMD's Ryzen Threadripper PRO 7995WX CPU which offers an insane amount of Zen 4 cores and now, AMD itself has revealed the first overclocked numbers of this might thread-ripping chip which have been achieved by US overclocker, SAMPSON. The feats were achieved in three Cinebench benchmarks including R15, R20, and R23.

So starting with the specifications, the AMD Ryzen Threadripper PRO 7995WX CPU is the flagship chip within the new Threadripper 7000 family. The chip is outfitted with 96 cores based on the Zen 4 core architecture, 192 threads, and clock speeds set at 2.50 GHz (Base) / 5.15 GHz (Boost). The chip offers 384 MB of cache and up to 128 PCIe Gen 5.0 lanes, making it an insane chip for workstation users. With such big specs also comes a big price and the 7995WX has a retail MSRP of $9999 US.

For the overclocking session, SAMPSON used ASUS's latest PRO WS TRX50-SAGE WIFI motherboard, running 128 GB of DDR5 memory (6400 MT/s / CL32), and the chip was overclocked to around 4.8 GHz across all of its 96 cores with a voltage of 1.24V. The motherboard itself features 36 phases and supports up to 1 TB DDR5 capacities which is insane but that's nothing compared to the higher-end WRX90 series which outclasses the TRX50 platform in almost everything.

Hitting 4.8 GHz Across 96 Cores: Over 100C Temps & 1000W Power

The CPU hit a maximum temperature of 103C but that was nothing that the air-cooler couldn't handle. Now the chip has a peak operating temperature rated at 95C which would imply that there must've been some sort of thermal throttling when the 7995WX surpasses 100C on the air cooler but such limits are easy to overcome by professional overclockers. But the cooler used here was a high-end ICEGIANT ProSiphone Elite which is a gargantuan itself though it is still no comparison to LN2 which is the next step for overclocking enthusiasts.

As for power numbers, the CPU hit an astonishing 980W with a load of 75% which means we are looking at over 1000W when the chip was fully loaded. That's 3x its base TDP of 350W.

In terms of performance, the CPU has now scored an incredible 161,259 points which beats the Ryzen Threadripper PRO 5995WX OC world record by 33% and offers a 61% speedup over the stock chip. Even two EPYC 9654 overclocked chips are no match to the might of Threadripper & which can be seen in the benchmarks published below:

As expected, AMD is now the first chipmaker on the planet to break past the 150K limit in the Cinebench R23 benchmark with its latest Ryzen Threadripper 7000 PRO CPUs. The CPU is also so fast that it offers more FP32 TFLOPs than current-gen consoles including the Xbox Series X & PS5.
