Considering how the Google I/O is taking place tomorrow and we might get a formal introduction to the Pixel 9 series, a Russian leaker thought it would be the right time to go ahead and leak Google's upcoming flagship trio. The leaker had previously shown us the Pro variant, which was in terrible condition, but this leak sheds light on all three devices that Google will be unveiling, including all the other information.
The Pixel 9 series seems to be getting an overhaul with a third, entirely new device
Yes, you did hear that right - there will be the Pixel 9, 9 Pro, and 9 Pro XL this year, and as you can tell by the images, the XL is just a larger version of the 9 Pro. Just like how the iPhone 15 Pro Max is the larger version of the iPhone 15 Pro. The leaker showed all three phones in the images today. The phones are powered on, and we even have some information on the specs that these devices will sport. So, in more ways than one, this is the biggest leak we have seen in some time.
As you can see in the images above, the Pixel 9 series is up and running, and it does look good. I have to say my preference is the boxy design that we see on the Galaxy S24 Ultra, but lately, I have seen myself drawn to what Google has been doing.
The source even took a picture comparing the latest Pixel 9 device to the devices from the past, and honestly, it shows how Google has come a long way with its design language. Much like Samsung, the company has made improvements to its design DNA with each passing year showing minor but significant changes to how the phones look.
We also got some specs of the upcoming Pixel 9 series. It appears that the base variant is finally getting a RAM upgrade with 12GB RAM available. Something that was previously available only on the Pixel 8 Pro. The source shared more information on all three devices, so there is more to go around with.
The source also revealed some other information about all three Pixel 9 devices. Let's start with the base variant, this is what you will be getting in that phone:
- 12/128GB base variant
- 6.24-inch display with 120Hz refresh rate
- Primary and ultra-wide camera on the back
- No UWB support
- Flat display, flat glossy back, and flat edges
- Codename: Tokay
Moving onto the Pixel 9 Pro, you are getting a nice spec bump, and you can look at all the information below:
- 16/128GB base variant
- 6.34-inch display with 120Hz refresh rate
- 50-megapixel primary, ultra-wide, and 5x periscope cameras
- UWB support
- Flat display, flat matte back, flat edges
- Codename: Caiman
Last but not least, if you are looking for the biggest boy, then the Pixel 9 Pro XL is the one for you with specs including:
- 16/128GB base variant
- 6.73-inch display with 120Hz refresh rate
- 50-megapixel primary, ultra-wide, and 5x periscope cameras
- UWB support
- Flat display, flat matte back, flat edges
- Codename: Komodo
All three Pixel 9 phones will launch with Tensor G4, but no information is available on the chipset. Sadly, there is no release date given at the moment, and we are not sure about it either. Google normally releases them in October, and the formal announcement could take place tomorrow. The only thing remaining at this point is the price, which is something that we will have to wait for. You can expect that this is not the end of the leaks, we should hear more about what Google has cooked in the coming weeks.
