AirPlay 2 Has Been Removed from Latest iOS 11.3 & tvOS 11.3 Betas
AirPlay 2 Removed from iOS 11.3 and tvOS 11.3 Betas - Will it Make a Return Later?
iOS 11.3 and tvOS 11.3 are important updates in a lot of ways. They bring the much-awaited AirPlay 2 protocol to the table, allowing users to stream anything to multiple sources at the same time. In other words, if you have a few AirPlay speakers at home, you can stream your music to all of them, and not be limited to just one. It's handy dandy.
The feature, which first made its debut last year as a mere keynote slide finally saw the light of day with the release of beta 1 of iOS 11.3 and tvOS 11.3. It was all going great until Apple pulled the plug on it with the third beta that was released a while back. That's right, if you install the beta right now, you'll notice that AirPlay 2 is now long gone from the new beta software updates.
Now, at the time of writing, it's absolutely unknown why AirPlay 2 was removed from the betas. There is a high chance that it was not offering functionality which Apple intended and will hopefully make a return in a later software update. On that, there is a possibility that Apple might actually delay the feature and reserve it for another big software release. iOS 11.4, maybe? It's pure speculation at this point.
We're gonna be optimistic here and stick with the speculation that Apple will make AirPlay 2 available with the final release of iOS 11.3 and tvOS 11.3, and not delay it any further. After all, Apple did take a while brining the HomePod to the market, and it's the perfect speaker if you want to show off what the next-generation of AirPlay is capable of doing.
We will update our readers as soon as there is any more updates regarding AirPlay 2, so stay tuned.
